A Not-So-Serious Culinary Escape (With Purpose)
Food and wine are at the heart of Alentejo culture—and at Quinta Camarena, they’re also part of how we live more sustainably. This program is a delicious way to connect: you’ll enjoy healthy, seasonal meals and local wines, while meeting the people who work the land with regenerative, community-first practices.
You’ll see where it all comes from, learn artisanal techniques, hear the stories behind the ingredients, and experience the aromas and flavors that make this region so special.
And yes—you can indulge without guilt. Between our gym, yoga classes, bikes, hiking trails, and easy outdoor movement, it’s simple to stay active and feel great while you eat (and drink) well.

Two times a winner .. in March and June ..Highly Recommend! Big thanks Vera for being so great to arrange the logistics of our retreat so easily . And many thanks to you and Cam for creating this magical haven in Alentejo. It is wonderful to explore yoga and handstands surrounded by beautiful trees. The food is soo delicious and local/ organic. Those working at Quinta are so warm and talented. Next time we surf! Obrigado 🙏 até ao próximo!

Our time at Quinta Camarena was absolutely wonderful! What a beautiful place. Everyone is so kind, the breakfast here is the best we had during our trip and the rooms are gorgeous. Our room was a short walk up the hill but they bring all your luggage up for you. The surrounding nature is amazing, there are great hikes around the corner and everything is so quiet and peacefull. We will definitely be back!

A fantastic place, completely immersed in nature. The rooms on the hill are easily accessible via a beautiful path, and the staff helps with luggage. Breakfast deserves a special mention: magnificent, with a wide variety of homemade options (gluten-free, vegan, sugar-free), and prepared by a very kind lady. Negative notes: Cleanliness: Not up to par for the price; even after reporting the issue and a second visit, the standard remained poor. Reception: The owners are super friendly, but the lady at reception was less than friendly and questioned our criticisms. Food policy: We arrived with perishable food, and they kept it in their fridge, but we would have liked to have had it in our room. We had a room, and I understand, but the ban on bringing food is bizarre: how do you cook in the apartments? Tip: Since you send a lot of emails before your stay, clearly state this ban in the booking summary. Overall, a truly positive experience!

We attended a yoga retreat at this secluded, georgous town (Cercal) June 6th to the 13th, 2026. it was the perfect combination of serenity, authenticity, and immersion in the farming region of Alentejo, Portugal. Cam and Vera and staff are world class hosts. Thank you so much. We were treated like royality.
