Things You Should Know
Welcome to Quinta Camarena. Before you arrive at our Alentejo sanctuary, we want to share a few insights into our philosophy of slow living and the unique nature of our home.

01 / SLOW LIVING
Alentejo moves at a different rhythm
In Alentejo, time is measured differently. Life here unfolds at a slower, more deliberate pace, where things aren't rushed but savored. From service at local cafés to the rhythm of daily life, patience is part of the charm.

02 / TERRAIN
The property itself is a hike
Quinta Camarena is nestled into a scenic hillside. While the terraced landscape adds to the charm, it does mean navigating slopes and steps. If you're not up for a spontaneous workout, just take it slow—the view from the top is worth every step.

03 / REALITY CHECK
S##t happens
Expectations can be the thief of joy. Sometimes the rain comes, sometimes flights are delayed, and sometimes the waves are too small to surf. We believe these are just parts of the journey that lead to the most epic stories of your life.

04 / HEALTHY & DELICIOUS
Food is special
We take great pride in our food. You’ll be served by our chef who sources locally and seasonally. While we mostly serve vegetarian, fish and meat can sometimes be an option. We start with our own garden and then expand to farmers in the area.

05 / HOSPITALITY
The staff is here to help
Most guests rave about our staff. They’re chosen for their kindness and work ethic. Since we aim to hire from local neighborhoods, you get a genuine sense of the community through our team.

06 / ADVENTURE
Activities at your own risk
From yoga to hiking coastal cliffs and horseback riding, we offer many ways to explore. We want you to have tons of fun, but please be aware that you participate at your own risk.
"Sustainability isn't a performance for us; it's how we live with the land."
07 / ETHOS
Sustainability is key
We do our best to be as sustainable as possible. By locally sourcing our food and using solar energy for hot water and electricity, we minimize our footprint. We ask you to join us by being mindful of your energy and water consumption during your stay.
08 / GRATITUDE
Tipping is appropriate
While not required, a suggested 10€/day is a warm way to show our staff that their efforts made your stay special. Gratuities are always appreciated as they reflect your gratitude for the care provided.
10 / CONNECTIVITY
We have Hi-speed internet
While we recommend you disconnect, we know life happens. High- speed internet is available in all rooms, the Cantina, and the Ground (yoga studio).
11 / POLICY
There are no refunds
Our cancellation policy is strict. We provide credits for future retreats but do not offer refunds. Please check your specific booking terms for full details.
09 / LOCATION
We are near a small town
