Whether you prefer exploring on foot, by bike, on horseback, or from the water, Alentejo offers endless opportunities to get outdoors. Wander the dramatic cliffs of the Costa Vicentina, discover the unique montado alentejano with its rolling hills and cork oak forests, cycle through quiet country roads, or paddle the calm waters of the Mira River by kayak or SUP.
We'll happily recommend a trail for every pace.

Cercal do Alentejo
Have an espresso and a typical pastry at Bau Doce, one of the most traditional places, by the main roundabout.
Sit outside and do some people-watching.
Have an Ice cream at Kladestinos bar, also by the roundabout.
Find the traditional hand-painted ceramics of Sr. Matos, a few minutes' walk after the 1st exit of the roundabout.
Find the leather workshop of Paulo (exit the property to your left, in the direction of town, always straight until you get to the main road, and then right)
Follow the Alentejo weaving signs, after the 2nd exit of the roundabout (10 minutes driving from us) for a tiny atelier of handmade tapestries. Wander in town, look at the architecture, visit the market and church square (Follow the signs: Mercado / Igreja)
For more hiking, find the yellow and red stripes in the main road and explore the circular route, of Cercal which is also part of Rota Vicentina trails. Hike through the Forest Hills (Serra), pass the Miraculous fountain (Bica Santa), the old mining area and get to the waterfall (Rocha d´água d´álto)
Finish you day with a traditional portuguese meal at the portugal famous Passarinho with Dona Sila or a new style Portuguese at Batata Doce.

Check the old fortress that used to defend the city from the pirates
Visit Vincent's Atelier and gallery and discover his beautiful paintings.
Visit the store Born to be Alentejano for traditional souvenirs.
Lay in the town beach where the ocean meets the river. Rent a SUP or kayak on the beach to explore the River Mira, one of the cleanest in Europe and famous for bird-watching.
Get the boat or cross the bridge to get to Furnas Beach, and watch the sunset at Yabalulu Bar and vegetarian Restaurant
