Have an espresso and a typical pastry at Bau Doce, one of the most traditional places, by the main roundabout.

Seat outside and do some people-watching.

 

Have an Ice cream at Kladestinos bar, also by the roundabout.

 

Find the traditional handpainted ceramics, of Sr. Matos, a few minutes walking after the 1st exit of the roundabout.

 

Find the leather workshop of Paulo (exit the property to your left, direction to town, always straight until you get to the main road, and then right)

 

Follow the Alentejo weaving signs, after 2nd exit of the roundabout (10 minutes driving from us) for tiny atelier of handmade tapestries Wander in town, look at the architecture, visit the market and church square (Follow the signs: Mercado / Igreja)

 

For more hiking, find the yellow and red stripes in the main road and  explore the circular route, of Cercal which is also part of Rota Vicentina trails. Hike through the Forest Hills (Serra), pass the Miraculous fountain (Bica Santa), the old mining area and get to the waterfall (Rocha d´água d´álto)

 

Visit Boutique Natural, a small shop on the main road with natural, traditional, and ecological products

Wander in town, look at the architecture with great Arab influence,

 

Check the old fortress that used to defend the city from the pirates

 

Visit Vincent's Atelier and gallery and discover his beautiful paintings.

 

Visit the store Born to be Alentejano for traditional souvenirs.

 

Lay in the town beach where the ocean meets the river. Rent a SUP or kayak on the beach to explore the River Mira, one of the cleanest in Europe and famous for bird-watching.

 

Get the boat or cross the bridge to get to Furnas Beach, have a Croissant or ice cream @ Mabi, a famous bakery.

 

For lunch close to the beach:
