What's New In The Quinta Camarena Kitchen This Spring

Spring has arrived at Quinta Camarena, and our kitchen is buzzing with fresh flavors, seasonal ingredients, and a few delicious surprises. If you're visiting Alentejo this season or dreaming of a farm-to-table escape, here's what's waiting for you.

Fresh From Our Garden

  • Loquats are back. These golden fruits are picked straight from our trees and enjoyed fresh off the branch, blended into smoothies, turned into tangy chutneys, or baked into our signature upside-down cake and loquat crumble.

  • The first strawberries of the season are finding their way into fruit salads and our homemade berry muffins.

  • Our orange trees are still giving, which means orange pudding topped with dark chocolate remains on the menu. It's a guest favorite, and we're not ready to say goodbye just yet.

From Harvest to Table

  • Our olives, picked back in November and patiently cured over the winter months, are now ready to enjoy.

  • Our small flock of chickens is thriving, gifting us a colorful variety of eggs. Different breeds mean different shell colors and subtle flavor differences, which makes breakfast here a little more interesting.

New This Spring & Seasonal Specialities

A few additions to our Spring menu that we're excited about:

  • Homemade butter, crafted in-house and served with our freshly baked focaccia with sun-dried tomato

  • An expanded cookie selection made with local organic flours. Many are vegan, gluten-free, or sugar-free, with flavors like peanut butter, lemon and chia, and almond

  • Protein pancakes made with homemade whey a byproduct of our cheesemaking, so nothing goes to waste

  • Zucchini pillows stuffed with ricotta in tomato sauce is our lighter, low-carb take on ravioli. Tender zucchini replaces the pasta, and the filling is creamy, herb-flecked, and deeply satisfying. It's become one of our most-requested dishes.

Comfort Food, the Spring Way

We're keeping our traditional Portuguese soups on the menu but with a seasonal refresh. Lighter broths, fresher vegetables, and the same nourishing, homemade quality that makes them so comforting on cooler evenings.
